Public Art Fund
New York's leading presenter of contemporary art projects seeks a
part-time PROJECT INTERN


PUBLIC ART FUND is New York's leading presenter of artists' projects, new commissions, installations and exhibitions in public spaces. Since 1977, the Public Art Fund has been committed to working with emerging and established artists to produce innovative exhibitions of contemporary art throughout New York City.

Public Art Fund is looking for a highly motivated, responsible intern to assist the project team and Chief Curator with tasks related to Public Art Fund projects and exhibitions. The intern will work with PAF staff and artists to create proposals for future exhibitions and assist with all aspects of the fabrication, installation and maintenance of PAF projects. The intern should be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite programs, and interested in performing hands-on work at various exhibition sites throughout the city. This is an ideal opportunity to gain experience with the practical aspects of exhibition-making in public spaces. The intern will receive a stipend of $25 per day.

Requirements:

  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel
  • Proficiency with simple hand tools, painting, etc.
  • Start ASAP and remain through December
  • Able to commit to 2 days per week
  • Interest in and knowledge of contemporary art


  • Intern responsibilities include:
  • Conducting research on artists, potential projects and sites
  • Graphic/Photoshop work on proposals and presentations
  • Hands-on site work, artwork installation, hanging signs, etc.
  • Maintenance of existing projects
  • Assisting as needed with events, including talks and openings
